McQueary Placed on Administrative Leave

The university's interim president and acting athletic director made the decision to place Coach McQueary on leave

Penn State Assistant Coach Mike McQueary has been placed on administrative leave.

Penn State's Interim President Rodney Erickson made the announcement at a Friday afternoon news conference.

Erickson said he made the decision to place McQueary on leave, along with the Acting Athletic Director Mark Sherburne.

"It became clear that Coach McQueary could not function under this role in these circumstances," Erickson said.

The leave is paid, according to Erickson.

This announcement comes one day after Penn State made the decision to pull McQueary from Saturday's game against Nebraska, because of multiple threats.

Erickson says Penn State will move forward with the rest of their season, and use "games as a vehicle" to raise attention to child abuse.

McQueary was a first-hand witness to Sandusky's alleged abuse of a 10-year old boy in the shower, back in 2002, when he was a graduate assistant.  He told Paterno, but not police about what he witnessed.
