Ex-Gov. to Help Incoming Mayor

Former New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey is part of the transition team for Plainfield's newly elected mayor.

McGreevey, who resigned soon after declaring in 2004 that he was a "gay American," will help analyze the city's operations for Adrian Mapp.

The Democratic councilman on Tuesday received more than 70 percent of the vote to win the mayor's job.

McGreevey lives in the Union County city that has been plagued by crime and high unemployment. He's been counseling inmates and was appointed to explore job development in Jersey City.

Mapp transition team spokesman Dan Damon tells the Home News Tribune the team will examine how to use technology to streamline government services.
