STATEMENT FROM MAYOR NUTTER ON THE DEATH OF PRESIDENT CONSTANTINE PAPADAKIS
“Among the many great leaders of Philadelphia colleges and universities, present and past, President Constantine Papadakis stood out as a man of vision and action. Starting in the mid-90s, he steadied the university’s finances and then set Drexel on a course of dramatic expansion, doubling the student body, adding a college of medicine at a critical time in the city’s history and more recently a school of law and enhancing the campus experience. He raised Drexel’s profile from a regional university to an international institution. He was the kind of leader who engendered love among all the university communities -- from students to faculty and alumni. It is a sad day in Philadelphia. Taki exemplified excellence in education and we will all miss him.”
