Masked Gunman Opens Fire in Center City, Leaves Man Critically Wounded

A masked gunman opened fire on two men in Center City Philadelphia overnight, leaving one man critically wounded.

Police said gunfire rang out at 15th and Locust streets about 12:55 a.m. as two men stood on the corner together. One of the men, a 38-year-old, was wounded once through his arm. Police said he was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and immediately went into emergency surgery. He remained there in critical condition Tuesday morning.

The second man on the corner, a 50-year-old, was not wounded.

Police said the victims did not recognize the gunman. Police described him as a 5-foot-8 to 6-foot man with a medium build. He wore a black coat, black pants, a black mask over his face at the time of the shooting. He was last seen heading east on Manning Street from 15th, according to police.
