Cab Co. Manager Killed, Left in Taxi

John "Tony" Dillard's body was found wrapped in trash bags Thursday night, police say

A body found wrapped in trash bags in a parked taxi Thursday night has been identified as 57-year-old John "Tony" Dillard, police say.

Authorities say Dillard was strangled and stabbed and left in a cab in the area of Concord Avenue and Lamokin Street in Chester. A police officer approached the taxi at about 10:21 p.m. to find the man’s body inside, wrapped in trash bags.

Co-workers say he borrowed the cab to run errands for his upcoming wedding while his car was being repaired.

Dillard and his fiancee Shawna Jordon met at the Germantown Cab Company where the victim worked as a manager.

The couple was supposed to wed on August 20.

"I was looking forward to having a good son-in-law and he would have made a good one because he made my daughter smile," Shawna's father Herbert Corsey told NBC Philadelphia.

Police have not released information on a possible motive.

"I just hope someone comes and tells us who did it because he was a good person," Shawna tells NBC Philadelphia.
