A 50-year-old man is fighting or his life after he was struck by a car while in a motorized wheelchair.
It happened on Frankford Avenue and Elkhart Street in the city. Investigators believe the driver who struck him couldn’t see him because of the pouring rain. Police say the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot after the accident. A female passenger remained inside the car which was later confiscated by police.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition.
Police say they know the identity of the driver and are currently searching for him. Charges against him are pending.
