Police say they were called to the corner of 5th and Market in Camden shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Sunday after a resident reported that a man in a wheelchair was threatening people with a handgun.

When police arrived, they say they found the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jorge Rosado of Camden. The officers say they spotted the butt of a gun inside his front jacket pocket.

Rosado was arrested and police took possession of his .38 caliber silver handgun, according to investigators.

Rosado was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. He was remanded to the county jail with bail set at $85,000 cash or bond.

“I’m proud of our officers for responding quickly to a resident’s call,” said Camden County Police Chief J. Scott Thomson. “Defusing a potentially dangerous situation without incident and taking another firearm off the streets before it could be used in an act of violence.”
