Man Gets Prison for Shooting Stepdad Over TV

A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to seven to 14 years in state prison for fatally shooting his stepfather during a dispute over a television at a Pittsburgh residence.

Aaron Israel, of Carnegie, Allegheny County, was sentenced immediately after pleading guilty to third-degree murder Thursday in the death of 45-year-old Kevin Kirkland.

Police say Israel's mother had asked him to change the locks on her home after she and Kirkland had a domestic dispute last June.

Police say Kirkland forced his way into the home about 2:30 a.m. June 28, and accused Israel of stealing a TV, which had actually just been moved to another room in the house without Kirkland's knowledge.

During the dispute, Israel began fighting with Kirkland's birth son. Police say Israel shot the elder Kirkland when he intervened.
