Man Tries to Abduct Boy in Park: Cops

Police are investigating an attempted abduction in Camden.

On Friday, around 7 p.m., police were called to a home on Broadway and Ferry Avenue. When they arrived, they were a met by a man who reported his 11-year-old son was nearly abducted.

The boy told his father he was playing at a park on the 1200 block of Collings Road when another child threw a rock at a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle allegedly returned to the playground and began to chase the children. The man allegedly grabbed the 11-year-old boy’s leg and tried to pull him toward his vehicle. The boy managed to escape and the suspect fled the area, according to investigators. The boy then told his father. Police say the boy’s father then spotted the suspect in a vehicle and began to chase after him before losing sight of him near Atlantic Avenue.

The suspect is described as a thin, dark skinned black male between the ages of 20 and 30, weighing 140 pounds and standing 5-foot-9 with brown eyes. Police also believe he was driving an older, Gray Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a Rhode Island license plate and the partial tag “QU10.”
