Police say the victim, identified as 45-year-old Anthony Sheard, and a few other men were on the sidewalk near the entrance of the rec center at 1600 Chelten Avenue. Police say Sheard was arguing with an unidentified suspect who then pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Sheard was struck at least once in the right shoulder and once in the back. Police say he walked into a nearby park and then collapsed. He was taken to Einstein Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No children were in the area at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Sheard was specifically targeted, according to investigators. Police say he was threatened by an unidentified suspect earlier in the week.

No arrests have been made. Police have not yet revealed information on the suspect.
