Police say the 19-year-old man was walking with friends around 2:25 a.m. outside The Legendary Dobbs bar on the 300 block of South Street when they encountered another group of people.
Investigators say the 19-year-old said, “Excuse me,” to a woman who walked past him and put his hand on her waist. Another man took offense to this and began yelling at the 19-year-old, according to police.
Police say the two men then confronted each other and a fight between the two groups broke out. During the fight, the 19-year-old man felt a sharp pain in his back but was unable to see who had cut him. Someone in the crowd then sprayed mace and the crowd scattered.
Police say the 19-year-old man ran down the street where he was met by officers. He was then transported to Jefferson University Hospital and treated for a laceration on his chin as well as four stab wounds in the back. He is currently in serious condition.
The suspect is described as a slim man between the ages of 28 and 30, standing 5-foot-11 with a thin mustache.
