The victim of a vicious attack outside of her South Philadelphia home is speaking out.

On November 11, police say Ashley Hackett, 23, was on the 700 block of South 9th Street shortly after 4 a.m. when an unknown man approached her from behind. The man allegedly slashed her face with an unknown object, took her purse and then fled the scene north on 9th Street then east on Fitzwater Street.

“I had no idea he was behind me until he was over my shoulder,” said Hackett during a press conference.

The slash caused a large laceration on Hackett’s face. She needed over 100 stitches to close the wound. Hackett’s purse was later found in a small alley on 800 Kenilworth Street. Over a week since the alleged attack, Hackett wants justice.

“He’s violent, he has an awful side,” said Hackett. “I don’t want to see anybody else sustain these injuries, have to go through this. Please don’t be afraid to call the cops.”

Police describe the suspect as a thin, white male. They also say the suspect was wearing a distinctive white or light colored hooded sweatshirt with a logo on the side typically worn by those who are active skateboarders, black pants and dark-colored shoes.
