SEPTA Worker Shot in Back of Head

The shooting happened on 71st and Elmwood in Eastwick.

Police are looking for two suspects who they say shot and killed a SEPTA trolley operator Thursday morning.

The shooting happened on 71st and Elmwood Sts. in the Eastwick section of the city around 5:30.

Authorities say 52-year-old Aaron Hayes was getting into his van to go to work at the Elmwood and Island Station when he was shot in the back of the head, in the neck and the arm.

He was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he died.

Police tell NBC10 they are searching for two suspects who fled the scene in a black and grey vehicle. They say the shooter was a white male, 5'5 to 5'9 wearing baggy clothes. They believe the driver was a female.

So far, there is no known motive for the shooting.

Police are reviewing surveillance video from a nearby business.
