Homicide Victim Found in Doughnut Shop Parking Lot

Philadelphia Police responded to a city Dunkin’ Donuts after a man was found shot in a car outside the doughnut shop.

Officers found the man shot inside a minivan parked in front of the store at N 10th Street and Girard Avenue in North Philly around 4:45 a.m.

The shooting victim died a short time later at Hahnemann Hospital.

Police believe the shooting happened less than a block away at the Cambridge homes on W Harper Street. An initial investigation showed that someone fired three times at two men sitting in the car.

Officers on the scene said the driver managed to get his Plymouth minivan to the doughnut shop where he stopped out front.

Police questioned the driver's passenger -- who wasn't injured -- about the shooting.

"The witness was really lucky," said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Investigators scoured both scenes for clues in hopes of finding the shooter.

"Hopefully this witness can give us some information," said Small.
