Mitchell Dedes was sentenced Friday in Luzerne County Court. He previously pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, kidnapping and robbery charges.

Authorities say Dedes and another man stole an iPhone belonging to 29-year-old Aaron Reznick of Ebervale in August 2012, tossed him into the trunk of a car, then beat and stomped on his head when he tried to escape.

Reznick was found unconscious and badly battered in the middle of a street in Hazleton. He died 10 days later.

The other defendant, 20-year-old Breon Judon, was convicted last month of second-degree murder. He faces a mandatory life prison sentence when he's sentenced in December.
