Man Sentenced for Strangling Woman

William Walton, 41, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison for the death of 22-year-old Allison Edwards.

The man who strangled a woman inside a Philadelphia apartment more than two years ago was sentenced on Monday.

William Walton, 41, of the 900 block of N 45th Street was taken into custody back in January of 2012 and charged with murder in the December 2010 death of 22-year-old Allison Edwards. She was found strangled in a building on the 3800 block of Glendale Street in the Juniata Park section of Northeast Philadelphia.

Police earlier thought the case could be related to the deaths of several women found sexually assaulted and strangled in the nearby Kensington section of the city, but they later ruled out any link. A suspect in those cases was arrested back in 2011.

Walton pleaded guilty to Voluntary Manslaughter and Manufacture and other related offenses. On Monday he was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison.
