Man Sentenced for Abusing Friend's Corpse

A western Pennsylvania man who pleaded guilty to moving a friend’s body out of his apartment into the victim’s pickup truck has been sentenced to 10 months to two years in state prison.

The (Somerset) Daily American says 37-year-old Michael Moore of Somerset apologized Friday to relatives of 53-year-old Frankie Sass and said he regretted his actions.

Moore pleaded guilty in April to abuse of a corpse. His girlfriend told police that Sass showed up at their apartment Jan. 23 and was later found dead, so they put the body into the vehicle and drove it to another part of the borough, where it was found four days later.

President Judge John Cascio called it “the most disgraceful, cowardly act that I've seen in a long time.”
