A man convicted in the death of 8-year-old Gabrielle "Gabby" Hill Carter, who was killed in the crossfire when shots flew through her Camden neighborhood, was sentenced Friday to 51 years in prison.
Tyhan Brown addressed the court before his sentencing, saying he feels he was wrongfully convicted. He offered his condolences, but said he wanted Hill Carter's family to know the case is not over. He said he hopes to one day get real justice.

The girl's uncle, meanwhile, read an emotional statement to the court saying the family misses Gabby and hurts every day.
Brown had been found guilty in the August 24, 2016 shooting of Hill Carter in June. She had been riding her bike when she was hit by a stray bullet. She died two days later.
On Friday, two years after the shooting that killed Hill Carter, Judge John Kelley sentenced the Camden man to 51 years: 28 years for aggravated manslaughter, 16 years for attempted murder and 7 years on weapons charges.
Brown will not be eligible for parole for more than 40 years.

The shooting of Carter was characterized by officials as part of the city's gang violence. Prosecutors said Brown was arguing with a rival gang member when he tried to shoot the other man.
Brown was captured in Tennessee about a month after the shooting.
