Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE An eastern Pennsylvania man has been resentenced on theft and forgery charges after a judge learned he lied about being a Marine who served in Iraq.
Twenty-year-old Michael Williamson of Easton will now serve three to six months in prison for forging checks and running an online scam involving a go-kart sale.
Williamson had been sentenced last month essentially to time served after he told Northampton County Judge Paula Roscioli that he was an Iraq veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder.
The judge later discovered that was untrue. She resentenced Williamson on Friday not for lying, but because her prior ruling was based on inaccurate evaluations.
During the hearing, Williamson apologized to all veterans.
Prosecutors are now investigating whether to bring additional charges against him.
