Man Pours Beer on 8-Year-Old, Throws Pitchfork at Bike: Cops

The boy’s mother tells police Michael Cummings was intoxicated at the time of the May 9 incident.

A 58-year-old Nazareth man is behind bars following a disturbing incident in which a mother claims the man dumped beer on her eight-year-old son, then threw a pitchfork at his bike while he was riding by.

The Morning Call is reporting
that Michael Cummings is charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct for the May 9 incident.

The boy’s mother tells police her son was riding his bike Wednesday evening on High Street when a visibly intoxicated Cummings poured beer on him, according to The Call.

He then hurled a pitchfork at the boy as he rode by, narrowly missing his leg, but puncturing a tire, says the mother.

Cummings is currently in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21.

Michael Cummings is the boy’s neighbor.
