Man Pleads Guilty in Kidnap, Assault of Girl, 5

A Lancaster County man has pleaded guilty to abducting a 5-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her earlier this summer.

Seventy-three-year-old Harold Herr was sentenced to 50 to 100 years in prison immediately after he pleaded guilty Wednesday to kidnapping, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault.

Authorities say Herr forced the girl into his car July 11 as she played outside her grandmother's Lancaster Township home.

Police say the girl was rescued about two hours later when two teenage boys spotted her inside a car driving through their apartment complex and followed on their bicycles until Herr stopped and let her go.

Herr is a registered sex offender who served 20 years for a 1990 child rape conviction.
