Police arrested a man who they say carjacked an ambulance on I-76 Friday afternoon.
Investigators tell NBC10.com that the man, identified as Brian Timothy Kada Jr., 25, was walking on the highway shortly before 3 p.m.
Police say that Kada flagged down the ambulance near the Girard Avenue exit, pulled out a gun, and forced the crew out of the vehicle.
A patient who was being transported to a medical facility was riding in the back of the ambulance at the time.
Kada drove the ambulance until it became disabled near the City Avenue exit, according to police.
Police say he jumped out of the ambulance and attempted to carjack another vehicle, before running off. Police chased him down and took him into custody.
The patient was taken to the hospital in another ambulance.
