Man Carjacks Ambulance on I-76



    The latest details on a bizarre highway carjacking today right outside Philly. (Published Friday, Sept. 20, 2013)

    Police arrested a man who they say carjacked an ambulance on I-76 Friday afternoon.

    Investigators tell that the man, identified as Brian Timothy Kada Jr., 25, was walking on the highway shortly before 3 p.m.

    Police say that Kada flagged down the ambulance near the Girard Avenue exit, pulled out a gun, and forced the crew out of the vehicle.

    A patient who was being transported to a medical facility was riding in the back of the ambulance at the time.

    A man was arrested on City Line Avenue after he jumped out of this ambulance on the highway around 3 p.m..

    Kada drove the ambulance until it became disabled near the City Avenue exit, according to police.

    Police say he jumped out of the ambulance and attempted to carjack another vehicle, before running off. Police chased him down and took him into custody.

    The patient was taken to the hospital in another ambulance.

    Kada is charged with robbery of motor vehicle, kidnapping, assault and related charges.
