A man is in the hospital after investigators say he was struck by a car while trying to help the victims of another accident.

Investigators say two cars were involved in a crash around 1 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike near exit 5 in Westampton Township.

After the accident, police say a man pulled his car off on the shoulder and got out to help the victims of the crash. As he was walking towards the accident scene, he was struck by another car that was passing by. The driver of that car did not flee the scene, according to investigators.

Police say the man who was struck was taken to Cooper Hospital where he is in stable condition. The victims of the first car accident were also taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The accidents did not cause any road closures, according to officials.
