Man Found Stabbed on Subway Platform

Victim may have been stabbed on the street, SEPTA says

A man is recovering after being found stabbed a South Philadelphia subway platform Thursday.

The unidentified 47-year-old man was found on the platform of the Broad Street Line's Oregon Avenue station around 1:30 p.m., SEPTA says.

He was stabbed in his arm, shoulder, stomach and face, police say. He was last listed in stable condition at an area hospital.

Initially, officials thought the man was stabbed on the platform, but SEPTA says they've found no evidence to support that theory.

No passengers reported seeing the stabbing and security footage didn't show any attack, SEPTA spokesperson Jerri Williams said.

Police shut down the station following the man's discovery to investigate. The shut down lasted for about four hours.

Investigators later arrested a man after he admitted to the stabbing while seeking treatment at a local hospital. He had cuts to his face and scissors on his person, police say.
