Man Faces Charges After Accidentally Shooting Himself

Delaware State Police have obtained warrants charging a man they say accidentally shot himself in the leg in a motel room.

Troopers were called to the Fairview Inn about 9:50 p.m. Sunday. Police say 44-year-old Jeffrey Lewandowski of Wilmington was in the room with two women to whom he was showing a .22 caliber revolver.

Authorities say Lewandowski was spinning the weapon around in his hand and finger when it discharged, hitting him in the leg.

Lewandowski was taking to Christiana Hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life threatening. Troopers have obtained warrants charging him with reckless endangering and possession of a firearm if previously convicted of a violent felony.
