Man Drowns in New Jersey Lake After Falling Off Raft

Authorities say a man drowned after falling off a raft in a lake near the New Jersey shore.

Manchester police responded to Harry Wright Lake around 6:30 p.m. Monday and soon found 20-year-old Luis Angel Meyo-Jimenez in the water. The 20-year-old Toms River man had been on a raft near the lake's floating dock when he fell off and sunk to the bottom for an unknown reason, authorities said.

A Manchester officer entered the water and was able to pull Meyo-Jimenez to shore with the help of volunteer firefighters. After an officer attempted to perform CPR, Meyo-Jimenez was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.

No other injuries were reported in the incident, which remained under investigation Tuesday.
