Worker Dies After 30-Foot Fall From Pennsylvania Church Roof

Authorities say a Pennsylvania roofer is dead after he fell 30 feet from a Lehigh Valley church.

Charles "Chuck" Diirner had been working on the roof of the Cathedral Church of St. Catharine of Siena Monday evening when he fell. The church is about 50 miles north of Philadelphia.

The 43-year-old Ephrata man later died at a hospital. Authorities have ruled his death an accident.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Labor tells the Morning Call federal investigators have up to six months to release their findings.

Investigators will determine if there were serious hazards or safety violations that led to the fall The agency may then issue citations and fines.
