Man Defends Himself Against Armed Robber

Police say after a struggle, the suspect made off with a cell phone and cash.

Philadelphia Police are looking for a man they say robbed another at gunpoint on Monday in South Philly.

The 21-year-old victim told police he was walking on the 2200 block of South Rosewood Street when a man asked him for a lighter before flashing a gun.

Police say the suspect took the victim's phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3, and then forced him to an ATM to take out money.

He also forced the victim to a nearby 7-Eleven to take out more money, according to investigators.

While in the convenience store, the victim was seen on surveillance video fighting with the suspect (who again flashed a gun) before running from the scene.

Police say he made off with the cell phone and $30 in cash.

They describe the suspect as a black male standing about 5'8" with a thin build. He has a medium complexion, a mustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a gray striped hoodie and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call Philadelphia Police.
