Man Dead, Teen Critical in North Philly Shooting

Police found the body of a 56-year-old man as well as a 16-year-old teen who was taken to the hospital.

Police are investigating a double shooting in North Philadelphia that left one man dead and a teenage boy in critical condition.

On Friday, around 4:30 p.m., police found Calvin Hurst, 56, lying on the ground on the 2600 block of North Jessup Street. Investigators say Hurst had a bullet wound on the left side of his chest. Hurst was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:41 p.m.

Police also found a 16-year-old boy nearby on the 2600 block of North 12th street. Police say the teen was shot in the abdomen and upper right thigh. He was also taken to Temple where he remains in critical condition.

No arrests have been reported thus far. No word on any suspects.
