Man Dead Following Crash, Standoff

Police say a West Virginia man is dead and a woman is in custody after a standoff in western Pennsylvania.

The incident began about noon Friday when an occupant of a pickup opened a window and allegedly fired on a police car that was in pursuit.

The truck crashed into a home near Uniontown and 53-year-old Donald Ray Brown, of Buckhannon, W.Va., barricaded himself inside. After a 10-hour standoff police entered the home and found that Brown was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted wound.

Brown's alleged accomplice, 28-year-old Jessica Lynn Phillips, also of Buckhannon, has been charged with aggravated assault, attempted homicide, and other charges.

Phillips is being held in Fayette County jail, unable to post $1 million bond. No attorney is listed on court papers.
