DUI Charges in Crash That Killed Teen

A man is facing charges after he slammed into a pole in Philadelphia early Saturday morning, killing the 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the car.

The 2007 Pontiac crashed shortly before 2 a.m. on the 4900 block of Stenton Avenue in the city's Logan section, according to police.

Medics rushed the teenager to Albert Einstein Medical Center, but medical staff were unable to revive him, officials said. He was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m.

Police took the 64-year-old driver into custody and charged him with driving under the influence.

No word yet on whether the driver is related to the teen.
