State police say a Chester County man has been arrested on charges related to dogfighting.
Police say Avondale troopers conducting a traffic stop in November saw a pit bull-type dog with injuries consistent with dogfighting.
They said a search of the driver's home Wednesday turned up six pit bulls, canine training and first aid equipment and rabbits as well as drugs, currency and a loaded handgun.
The Brandywine Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BVSPCA) said the dogs are in fair condition and the rabbits' condition was poor.
Thirty-nine-year-old Dowayne Molina was charged with animal fighting and possession of animal fighting paraphernalia, animal cruelty and weapon and drug counts.
Court documents don't list an attorney representing Molina and a listed number for him couldn't be found Monday.
