Bail has been set at $500,000 for a Jersey City man accused of strangling and stabbing a woman during a dispute inside a Jersey City apartment.
Jermaine McFadden faces murder and weapons charges in the death of 28-year-old Crystal Reid, whose body was found late Friday by police responding to a reported stabbing at the residence.
McFadden and Reid apparently were married, and Hudson County prosecutors tell The Jersey Journal that the pair had been staying with members of McFadden's family. When police arrived at the apartment, the 28-year-old McFadden was being restrained by some relatives.
Authorities say Reid had multiple stab wounds to her upper body and trauma-related injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
A motive for the attack remains under investigation.
