Man Assaults US Air Marshal: Cops

State Police are searching for a Delaware man who they believe assaulted a U.S. Air Marshal Tuesday night.

Authorities say that a 23-year-old female U.S. Air Marshal was driving behind a silver Ford Escort southbound on Long Neck Road in Millsboro. Police believe that the driver of the Escort was 25-year-old Joseph Tuono of Millsboro.

The Air Marshal told police that Tuono was driving erratically and at a high speed, nearly striking a motorcyclist in the process.

The Air Marshal followed Tuono who she believed was driving under the influence. She called 911 for state troopers to respond to the scene.

The woman then says that Tuono pulled his car into the Pot Nets Cove Side development and stopped his car on Pebble Drive.

The Air Marshal stopped her vehicle behind Tuono as he got out of his car.

Tuono then allegedly screamed and cursed at the woman. When she revealed that she was an Air Marshal police say he then began to run away.

The Marshal tried to stop Tuono but was hit numerous times in the abdominal area. Tuono then escaped into a nearby marsh.

The Marshal suffered minor bruising though she didn’t need any medical assistance.

Delaware State Troopers and a Police Helicopter searched the area for over an hour but were unable to find Tuono.

Tuono is charged with one count of second-degree assault.
