Man Arrested in Ambulance Theft

An ambulance was stolen Monday night leaving a paramedic crew and their patient stranded.

"Medic 20's ride just got stolen," a female Philadelphia Fire Dept. Medic can be heard saying in an emergency call. "They're driving down Frankford Avenue. They're sitting at Frankford and Adams."

According to police, a 28-year-old Boston man was stopped around 11 p.m. at 4400 Frankford Ave. after an officer observed him operating the emergency vehicle. Austin Rucker was charged with theft and related offenses.

The medics were attending to the patient outside of the vehicle when it was stolen from the Kensington section of Philadelphia.

A second  unit was dispatched to assist with patient transport.
