Delaware State Police have arrested a man they say kicked a police dog while fleeing troopers.
It happened about 1:40 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Las Palmeras Restaurant and Night Club in Bear. Troopers were called after a man said another man pointed a gun at him.
Police say officers tried to contact the suspect, who ran away. Officers say a police dog chased the man and knocked him to the ground, but the man kicked the dog and ran again.
Troopers say the dog again caught up with the man, whom troopers arrested.
Thirty-year-old Carlos Garcia-Antonio of Middletown was charged with assault of a law enforcement K-9 and numerous other offenses.
