Man Arrested for Hymie's Robbery: Cops

One man was arrested for his alleged connection to a robbery at a popular Lower Merion Deli.

On July 14, shortly after 9 p.m., police say four armed men entered Hymie’s Restaurant on 342 Montgomery Avenue. The suspects ordered everyone inside to go to the front of the store, lie on the ground and turn over their phones as well as wallets, according to investigators. Police also say the restaurant manager was ordered to open a nearby register and remove the cash. The suspects then ran from the store through the backdoor and fled the area, according to police.

After an investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Michael Shawn Schaefer, 40, according to police.
