Police announced an arrest in a Montgomery County DUI crash that left a motorcyclist dead.

It happened on April 4 on Kutztown Road in Upper Hanover Township. Police say Francis David Lynch was driving his truck on the road in a reckless and careless manner while under the influence of alcohol. Lynch allegedly made an abrupt left turn without signaling and crashed into a motorcycle driven by Barry D. Good. Good was transported by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Witnesses claim Lynch was driving erratically before the accident, repeatedly breaking, accelerating and swerving.

A Pennsylvania State Trooper told investigators he noticed the odor of alcohol on Lynch’s breath when he spoke with him and that Lynch was swaying while standing. Lynch submitted to Standard Field Sobriety Tests and failed to perform as instructed, according to investigators. Police also say a preliminary breath test indicated the presence of alcohol. He was taken to Grandview Hospital for chemical testing.

Lynch was arraigned on Friday.  His bail was set at $500,000 with several non-monetary conditions including the immediate surrender of his driver’s license and no driving or operating a motor vehicle.
