Police arrested a man for allegedly stealing over 200 flower urns from grave sites at a Cherry Hill cemetery.

The Courier Post reports the thefts took place over the last month at the Locustwood Memorial Park cemetery near Route 70 and Cooper Landing Road.

Police received around 50 reports of stolen vases, bronze veteran’s flag stands and grave marker faceplates, according to the Courier Post.

Cherry Hill Police re-canvassed local scrap metal dealers for leads. While at the R. Fanelle and Son Recycling yard on 1466 Ferry Avenue in Camden, NJ, police say they uncovered information which led to the arrest of Matthew McGrenehan, 23, of Malaga. Police also say he was found with numerous Percocet pills upon his arrest.

Police say McGrenehan was an employee at the cemetery. During an interview McGrenehan confessed to the flower urn thefts, according to investigators. He was arrested and charged with theft and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 17 with bail set at $35,000.
