Federal authorities say a man faces criminal charges after he made threats and set fire to 250 hay bales inside Gettysburg National Military Park.
The U.S. attorney's office in Harrisburg charged 41-year-old Gary DuRocher on Monday with simple assault and felony malicious mischief for the Friday night incident that allegedly began with him pulling a boy from a vehicle at the Eternal Light Peace Memorial.
Park officials say DuRocher left the scene on foot around 6 p.m.
After a large search, he was arrested on the Gettysburg College campus.
He's accused of igniting the hay fire near Biglerville Road.
He's also charged with sending threatening texts to an ex-girlfriend during the incident.
The public defender listed on DuRocher's online court docket didn't immediately return a message.
