Make-a-Wish Sponsors a Super Shopping Spree

Everyone dreams of going on an “all you can grab” shopping spree. That dream was a reality for 11-year-old Imani Collins of Abington, thanks to the Make-a-Wish foundation.

The Foundation, which grants wishes to critically ill children, sponsored a 4-hour shopping extravaganza for Imani at the Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us at the King of Prussia mall.

Imani was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 2008.

“It was a real shocking experience for all of us,” said Jerome Collins, Imani’s father. “Just going through the process, it was kind of devastating at that time.”

“It’s been pretty hard,” said Imani. “But I’m done with chemotherapy. I can do lots of things as a normal kid instead of spending time in the hospital.”

One of those things is roller-skating, which Imani says she’s done for a few years. One of the first items she bought was a new pair of skates, which she road down the aisles during the rest of her shopping.

After filling up her cart, Imani went to the mall in style, a stretch limo.

“I felt famous for a moment because everyone was looking at the car,” said Imani.

While Imani and her family continue to battle through her disease, they can always take solace in the fact that for one day at least; the young girl’s wishes came true.

“I wish this could happen more than one time,” said Imani. “But I’m always going to remember it as a good memory, as a great day.”
