One of the longest-serving members of the Pennsylvania Legislature is retiring.
Rep. Paul Clymer said last week that he will not seek re-election before his current two-year term ends Nov. 30. Clymer first joined the House in 1981, and the Bucks County Republican currently serves as House Education Committee chairman.
The 76-year-old Clymer is among the Legislature's foremost opponents of gambling. He calls serving the 145th District's residents ``an awesome and humbling experience.'' He had once announced his retirement in 2010, but then reconsidered.
Fellow Bucks County Rep. Gene DiGirolamo calls Clymer a role model and tells the Philadelphia Inquirer that Clymer always gave honest answers and was a man of his word.
