Rescuers Have Tough Time Getting to Victim of Deadly Fall From 400-Foot Radio Tower

Police say a man died after falling from a 400-foot radio station tower in Long Branch, N.J.

Police have not released the man's name or said what he was doing on the Y107 radio tower along Memorial Parkway near Belmont Avenue.

The man fell through the roof of a building and became stuck on the second floor.

Long Branch Fire Marshal Kevin Hayes tells the Asbury Park Press specially trained firefighters cut a hole in a wall to recover the body because the vacant building wasn’t safe to enter.

“The problem was that fire department couldn’t go inside the building because it was an unsafe structure already. So they had to go from the outside in,” Hayes told the paper.
