A 28-year old U.S. Army ranger from South Jersey has been killed in action in Afghanistan.
Sandrino Plutino of Pitman, NJ was nearing the end of his third deployment and was scheduled to return home in two weeks.
The exact cause of his death has not yet been released. But according to his family, it is not connected to Saturday's attack on a helicopter that killed 30 troops, including 22 Navy Seals.
Plutino enlisted in the Army in 2006. He was a star wrestler at Pitman High School and later at Western New England College in Massachusetts.
