Local Organization Gives Christmas Meals, Gifts to Homeless Vets

Starting at 7 a.m., the Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House will serve traditional holiday meals and also give presents to dozens of homeless U.S. military veterans.

A Philadelphia organization is looking out for veterans who are down on their luck this Christmas. Starting at 7 a.m., the Philadelphia Veterans Comfort House will serve traditional holiday meals and also give presents to dozens of homeless U.S. military veterans.

After the meals and gift giving, the PVCH will lead “Operation Sleigh Ride,” where they’ll distribute hot holiday fare and cold weather gear to veterans living on the streets of Philadelphia.

Founded in 1994, the PVCH is a shelter for homeless vets and vets undergoing serious medical treatment at the local VA Hospital.

“This is our third year serving meals to homeless vets on the holidays and giving out presents on Christmas Day,” said PVCH Executive Director David Kamioner. “This is the second year for Operation Sleigh Ride. We’re proud our House and our great volunteers can do so much for homeless U.S. military vets during the holidays.”
