Local Baking Company Buys Land in Pa. for State-of-the-Art Bakery

The 30 acres of land at 105 Boulder Drive in Breinigsville will be the site of the company’s new state-of-the art bakery.

The country’s largest baking company is getting even bigger.

Bimbo Bakeries USA, based in Horsham, Pa., has purchased new land in Macungie Township, Pa. The 30 acres of land at 105 Boulder Drive in Breinigsville will be the site of the company’s new state-of-the art bakery that will create bread and buns for the Northeast. Bimbo Bakeries stated the following in a press release:

This new facility will enable us to continue to serve our valued customers with the highest quality and freshest baked goods while leveraging significant advances in baking technology that will make our operations more efficient. 

Construction of the 240,000 square foot LEED certified plant is expected to begin in a few months and be completed by the end of 2013.  The $75 million bakery is expected to bring more than 100 jobs to the area when it begins operation in early 2014.

Our new bakeries use less energy, are friendlier to the environment, allow more efficient production and help us maintain the highest quality standards. These innovations allow us to offer consumers the best value when they purchase our products.

Bimbo Bakeries, which began in 1994 and entered the U.S. bread market in 1997, currently operates over 70 bakeries and employs more than 27,000 associates according to the company website.
