Teenager Shot in East Germantown Stumbles Into La Salle University Eatery for Help

A teenager shot in East Germantown late Thursday night stumbled into a La Salle University eatery for help.

Police said the victim, a 15-year-old boy, was on Wister Street near Furley just before 11 p.m. when two shooters opened fire, wounding him in the hand and arm. He ran around the corner to the nearby Explorer's Den, a well-known steak shop popular among La Salle University students, according to police.

A delivery person from the restaurant drove the teen to Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment. Police said the boy remained there in stable condition early Friday.

Police said the teen was visiting his grandmother in the neighborhood at the time of the shooting. Her home is about a half-block away from where the boy was attacked. Officers found 21 spent shell casings fired from two separate guns at the scene, police said, indicating the teen may have been caught in the crossfire of a gunfight. It was unclear whether he was the intended target early Friday, according to police, and the motive for the shooting was unknown.

Police have not made any arrests and continue to investigate. No additional injuries were reported.
