Pornography takes down a former Wharton Professor

Lawrence Scott Ward’s like, love, lust – whatever it was – for a 16 year boy in Brazil, became the downfall of his high-profile career at the Wharton School.

Ward flew to Brazil several times to have sex with the teenager and to have pictures and videos made of the teen engaged in sex acts with Ward and others.

Ward is already serving a 15-year sentence on a child pornography conviction out of Virginia. That part of the case was handled there caused Ward mailed a package from Dulles Airport in Virginia to his University of Pennsylvania office, which contained a CD with numerous sexually explicit photographs of the 16-year-old victim taken during March and April 2006.

On Monday he pleaded guilty to additional charges in his child pornography case. Two counts of inducing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct.

Two counts of transporting and shipping child pornography, and one count of making false statements to federal investigators.

At the time of the crimes, Ward was an Emeritus Professor of Marketing at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business

Ward will be sentenced on these latest charges in February of 2009.
