Kayakers Find Body of Elderly Man Missing Since Storm

Authorities in central Pennsylvania say the body of an elderly man swept into floodwaters last week has been recovered.

State police in Clinton County say three kayakers found the body of 86-year-old Claude Rupert on an island in Bald Eagle Creek on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the Beech Creek resident was trying to retrieve an all-terrain vehicle when he was pulled into the swollen creek during Thursday's storms.

Clinton County emergency officials say about 7 inches of rain fell in less than an hour in one area of the county.

Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency officials say one home in the area was destroyed and another was left with major damage, while 14 others were also damaged.
