Judge: Train Station Will Move

A judge has ruled against a group that is seeking to block the move of a popular train station in Princeton.

The station in downtown Princeton serves a two-car train, commonly known as the Dinky, that runs between the town and Princeton Junction station.

Princeton University and New Jersey Transit have approved a plan to remove 460 feet of track to allow the university to build a $320 million arts center. Foes of the plan say it will make for a longer walk to downtown Princeton and could even spell the end of the station altogether.

In a ruling last week, a judge in Mercer County dismissed the group Save The Dinky's claim in a lawsuit that a 1984 contract doesn't authorize the station move.
